GST Return Filing: Due Dates and Late Fees You Should Know

GST Return Filing: Due Dates and Late Fees You Should Know

Filing your GST returns on time is one of the simplest ways to avoid unnecessary penalties and keep your input tax credit flowing. Yet many small businesses lose money every year to late fees that were completely avoidable.

Key GST return due dates

  • GSTR-1 — 11th of the following month (monthly filers).
  • GSTR-3B — 20th of the following month.
  • GSTR-9 (Annual Return) — 31st December of the next financial year.

Late fees and interest

A late fee of ₹50 per day (₹20 for nil returns) applies, along with 18% annual interest on any tax paid late. These add up quickly, which is why we send every compliance client proactive reminders before each due date.

How to stay on top of it

Keep your sales and purchase records reconciled monthly, and never wait until the deadline. If you would like us to manage your GST filing end to end, get in touch for a free consultation.
